B.C. reports 506 new COVID-19 cases, eight deaths

B.C. health officials reported 506 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 354,084 cases.
Of the new cases, 74 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 114 in the Fraser Health region, 98 in the Island Health region, 168 in the Interior Health region, 52 in the Northern Health region, and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
There are 271 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 and 49 are in intensive care.
To date, 11,449,892 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 4,338,756 of those are second doses and 2,644,222 are third doses.
This means that 93.7 per cent of adults, 93.4 per cent of people aged 12 and older, and 90.8 per cent of people aged five and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 91.4 per cent of adults, 91.0 per cent of those aged 12 and older, and 87.0 per cent of those aged five and older have received two doses; 58.9 per cent of adults and 57.0 per cent of those aged 12-plus have received three doses.
Sadly, there were eight new COVID-related deaths reported since Friday, bringing that total to 2,974. Of those who died, one lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, four in the Fraser Health region, two in the Island Health region, and one in the Northern Health region.
Health authorities reported one new health-care facility outbreak. Active outbreaks continue at seven long-term care facilities and one acute care facility.
As of today, people aged 30 and older can pick up rapid antigen test kits from community pharmacies. Eligible individuals can pick up one kit of five tests every 28 days from participating pharmacies at no cost.
From March 11 to 17, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 16.8 per cent of cases. From March 4 to 17, they accounted for 26.1 per cent of hospitalizations.
